Portal Drame.hr announces the eleventh competition for financing the translation of plays into foreign languages.
The competition is open from September 19 to October 1, 2023, and the selection includes texts submitted to the portal from the previous competition until the specified deadline.
The jury will choose one drama that will be translated into a foreign language at the author's choice, in agreement with the portal's editors. The winner of the competition will be decided by a three-member jury consisting of: Vedrana Klepica, dramatist, Darko Lukić, theater scholar, and Lana Šarić, dramatist and editor of the portal.
Participation in the competition implies the publication of submitted plays on the portal, as well as the translation of the play that is selected for translation. The translation will be promoted abroad among relevant organizations in accordance with the possibilities of the editorial office. If it is a drama that for some reason must not be published yet (various tenders that require publication, staging in a theater, etc.), it is necessary to indicate the desired publication date in the application form.
Also, we ask the authors who sent us a drama from August 2022, when the previous competition ended, until the announcement of this year's competition, to contact us by e-mail and confirm whether they want their text to be included in the selection. If the author has several texts published on the portal during that period, please let us know which text he wants to compete with, because only one text by the same author will be able to enter this year's selection.
This competition is funded by the Ministry of Culture and the City Office for Culture of the City of Zagreb.
